Wallenius Wilhelmsen is a corporation headquartered in Oslo, Norway, with offices and teams in 29 countries worldwide. They are a global leader in shipping and vehicle logistics, managing the distribution to customers all over the world.
I was hired to help with the design of a web ERP platform and lead all UX/UI processes.
Why the platform
was needed?
A very slow way of working, managing huge data in a pile of Excel tables, and communication between users globally inevitably included a huge amount of manual work on the daily basics, which for such a growing company was challenging and not efficient.
Creating a user-friendly platform that reduces the difficulty of manual operations and automates flows efficiently was the project objective and challenge to solve.
How did we
approach?
“There is only one way to eat an elephant: a bite at a time”. That’s exactly how we approached with setting a project processes.
Through the workshop sessions and agile communication with product owner, business analysts, subject matter experts, and implementation crew, I helped the client establish project delivery processes, define goals, create user flows, identify challenges and pain points, gather all requirements, clarify functionalities and features, shape user stories and monitor the implementation of the designed solutions.
To ensure a lasting and accurate design implementation, I started the design process with style guide library creation.
It really saved us much time and resources and provided consistency in experience.
Shaping it all in a preferred brand style, I fine-tuned components and set standards by following the best UX practices.
Since the project scope was very large, together we built solid processes for detecting key solutions and enjoyed as team in the full journey.
Our teamwork resulted in a game-changing experience for the users and company and impacted overall operational efficiency by harmonising and facilitating shipment processes like forecasting, cargo and capacity management, vessel coordination, allocation supervision, shipping plans, etc.
